Lead Camp
Wild Counselor

One per week 

8:30 AM-1 PM CAMP WILD

1:00-4:00 PM Aftercare

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Summer Camp Counselor to join our Camp Wild team. This role is crucial in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for our campers. The Lead Counselor will be responsible for overseeing daily camp activities, managing staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and fostering a positive camp culture.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Program Planning & Implementation: Use the developed plans (and modify as needed) and lead a diverse range of camp activities including arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and educational workshops, messy science, games, and group activities.

- Staff Supervision: Mentor, support, and supervise counselors and aides ensuring they understand their responsibilities and provide high-quality camp experiences.

- Camper Safety & Well-being: Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all campers, handle emergency situations, and administer basic first aid when needed.

- Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for parents, addressing any concerns or questions regarding camp activities and camper experiences and contact director if needed.

- Behavior Management: Implement and enforce camp rules and policies, manage camper behavior, and resolve conflicts in a positive and constructive manner.

- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of camper attendance, activity participation, and any incidents or injuries.

 

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a supervisory role at a summer camp or similar youth-focused environment preferred.

- Strong leadership and organizational skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with staff, campers, and parents.

- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).

-ECE or Education credits or similar experience preferred

- Passion for working with children and creating memorable experiences.

- Flexibility, creativity, and a positive attitude.

Availability:

-Prefer our Lead Camp Counselor to be available all ten weeks of camp June 9- August 15, however, will split the position for the right person/people if you are not available all ten weeks.

- Camp hours are from 9-1 with aftercare from 1-4 (Unless you wish to stay until 4 we will just need you to get our counselor set up for the aftercare session before leaving.

Camp Wild Counselor

We are looking for energetic and compassionate Camp Counselors to join our Camp Wild summer camp team. This role involves assisting in the planning and execution of camp activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and supporting senior staff. It's a great opportunity for those looking to gain experience working with children in a fun and engaging environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Activity Assistance: Support the planning and execution of camp activities including, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and educational workshops, messy science, games, and group activities.

- Camper Supervision: Monitor and engage with campers, ensuring their safety, participation, and enjoyment.

- Team Collaboration: Work closely with lead counselors and camp staff to create a positive camp environment.

- Camper Support: Provide guidance and support to campers, helping them with their needs and addressing any concerns.

- Behavior Management: Assist in managing camper behavior and resolving conflicts in a positive and supportive manner.

- Safety Protocols: Follow all camp safety protocols and procedures, including administering basic first aid when necessary.

 

Qualifications:

- Passion for working with children and creating a fun, safe, and inclusive camp environment.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work well in a team and take direction from lead counselor and director.

- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR (preferred).

- Enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive attitude.

- Previous experience in a camp or youth-focused environment (preferred, but not required).

Availability:

-Prefer our Camp Counselor to be available at least five of our ten weeks or minimum of two days a week for all ten weeks.  If only available for aftercare, would prefer at least five out of the ten weeks. 

-We want our counselors to have consistent schedules so our lead counselor has consistency of support.

- Camp is from 9-1 with aftercare from 1-4.  The number of counselors each week and for after care depends on student enrollment.  

- In your cover letter please let us know what your availability is. 

-Weeks of camp June 9- August 15, (with June 19th and July 4th off)

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.  Preference will be given to those who can attend at least five of our ten weeks, Wild Roots staff, or individuals who can have a consistent schedule for the entire ten days with a minimum of two days a week.
